The inaugural World Trick-Shot Championship was held at Celtic Manor in 2005.

Competitors had the chance to perform a short set of just over 10 minutes. Judges rated the competitors  on technical merit, entertainment value and presentation style. The winner was Paul Barrington and he received the £20,000 prize.
